Mobile Marketing 101 for SMBs

Mobile Marketing 101
QR codes can unleash your creativity – you can use them anywhere (Image: Picpinky via Flickr)

Mobile solutions are one of the greatest boons for people interested in small to medium business use in the modern era. This is because of the sheer versatility of the medium, as well as what a huge market share is coming down the line in new mobile users.

The amount of people who will be getting mobile devices in the next few years is going to be truly staggering, and not just in the United States. Small devices are also likely candidates for purchase by those in many developing world countries as well. Overall, it will be the small businesses that use mobile marketing the wisest that will excel the most in the coming years.

Text Messaging Possibilities

This is perhaps the simplest way to use mobile marketing, but it’s also one of the most effective because of its nature. After all, not all people joining the mobile market will be getting a cell phone. Many of the old clamshell type phones that do nothing but voice and text are being called ”African” or “homeless” phones because of the widespread use of the phones by people from those areas. If you want to reach a truly wide area, you can add brand messages to text messages. Many people filter text messages less than they do cold phone calls, and it will often annoy them less. People are tethered to their phones these days, and if they do have a smart phone a link in the message will send them to your site right away.

You can use promotional texts of course, with special offers sent to people who already subscribe to your brand and have given you permission to contact them through their phone number. This is one of the best approaches since you won’t run afoul of people complaining about being bothered. One simple way to do this is to include a coupon code in the message, since then even people without smart phones can redeem and use it.

You can also add texts of an informational nature and send them to customers. This is a great way to market for an upcoming sale or other type of concert or event, for example. You’ll inform your customers right away using a method that’s not too invasive but that they will be sure to see. Additionally, texts are a great way to get instant customer feedback about various products that they may have recently purchased.

Generally it’s important to get permission from users first before texting them, and to not overdo it. If you’re texting them more than once every few days you will be likely to get them wanting to unsubscribe. This way of marketing is great because you can follow its efficiency almost real time just like on the web – but text messages create a more intimate connection with your customers.

Use QR Codes

The QR code phenomenon is a relatively new one, but it allows you to create a scanable code at any physical location or on the Internet that mobile users can scan to get immediate access on their phones. The code can contain text messages or URLs. You can hide promotional messages in them or help your customers to reach your homepage or promotion’s landing page very quickly from their cellphones. This is a way to reach your audience effectively in a way that’s fun and engaging for them.

Text messages are something everybody knows but it’s possible you’ll have to educate your customers about the use of QR codes. You have to make sure they have the appropriate software and know how to handle this tool. You can encourage the use of QR code by running special promotions, e.g. offering coupons that can be unlocked or downloaded via a link embedded in QR codes or invite your customers to a “treasure hunt” where they have to locate codes or hidden messages either on your homepage (QR codes can be read from any surface) or in your store or facilities.
Sms marketing and QR codes are a bit neglected nowadays as there are many new methods in online marketing, especially social marketing. But if you want to build really engaging campaigns at a low cost, you can benefit from the use of these brilliant tools many ways.

All You Need to Know About Affordable Website Hosting

Affordable Website Hosting

Planning to get your own website? Looking to expand your business through web presence or just express yourself on a website that you can call your own?  Your can get started literally in minutes with just a few dollars of initial investment. However, there a few things that you need to know before you get started.  This article aims a providing all the required information for a beginner on domain names and website hosting.

How Website Hosting Works?

Firstly you need to understand the very basics. To start off at the very beginning, you will need to have a domain name. A domain, commonly referred to as a website is your unique identity in the World Wide Web (a consortium usually abbreviated as www). Each domain is identified as with a name. A domain name has to be unique across the internet and the website URL is its address.

However getting a domain name is not good enough to get you started. A website is only as good as the content it provides. Also you will need to host the domain somewhere so that it can be accessed by one and all using the internet. This is where web hosting kicks in.

As for when and how you'll buy a domain, hopefully soon I'll be able to provide everyone a short video on how to buy a domain via GoDaddy. I would suggest that you buy a domain during a domain sale and this will surely save you a lot.

Most domain name providers will also give you the option hosting the domain names in their service. However, if you are after speed and reliability, you should ideally choose a provider that can offer you reliable web hosting at an affordable price. You can then request your domain name provider to to link the domain to the DNS (Domain Name Server) that the web hosting company will provide you with their hosting service.

Once you have the hosting account linked you your domain name, it is then available to all the users having access to internet from any web surfing device like a PC, laptop, smart phone or a tablet. The popularity of your domain will then depend on how good your web content is and how well you market your brand.

Main types of Web Hosting

There are three main types of hosting options that most companies offer. These being shared, VPS and dedicated servers. Shared hosting service, usually the cheapest and ideally suited for small scale websites, uses a single server and shared IPs to manage multiple domains. The customer shares the resources with other small scale website owners. If however your website grows to a point where you might require more bandwidth, you should think about migration to VPS hosting.

Hosting VPS or Virtual Private Servers is the ideal option for medium sized websites. It works like your own machine and includes custom firewalls and high end security features. Usually web hosting service companies provide partitions to a server with reserved amounts of RAM and CPU resources for your website.

Dedicated servers are ideal for large scale websites that operate as a full fledged business entity and have hundreds of thousands of incoming and outgoing traffic at a daily level. Servers are dedicated with full machine CPU and RAM resources to a single domain. This is usually a more expensive option. Therefore it is important to select the right website hosting based on your budget, business plan and website traffic.

Brad Callen's AK Elite - Turning Amazon to Money Making Machine

I recently got emails from fellow internet marketers about this NEW WAY TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE, and I would say it's quite possible if you really choose the right niche, create an informative ebook and use the right tool - and this is where this new product of Brad Callen comes in.

We all (hopefully) know Amazon, I've actually purchased my last purchased camera from there. It's an online store where you could practically buy a lot of stuff - from home decors, computers, accessories, clothes, etc. One of the products they sell are books, ebooks and the Kindle books and Brad Callen's AK Elite claims they can totally help you in making it all possible. From choosing a niche, creating the book, publishing it and of course making it rank to the top of Amazon search result page.

I can't go much in detail with this since I haven't tried this product yet but it actually makes me think about it (since I really wanna do make more money). I'll try to purchased one to give a review but as of now, here's the email I got from friends that might help you about this product.

The Buzz About Brad Callen's AK Elite

Hi Gay,

I recently spoke with a friend of mine and learned about a strategy that anyone can use to make money with.

I know you've heard it before, but please suspend any of your preconceived notions about that statement while I tell you the steps in this email.

And when I say, anyone, I mean anyone. You don't need internet marketing knowledge (which you probably already have anyway). You don't need a lot of money. You don't need experience or a following, or a list, of a customer base.

You don't need Google, or Facebook, yada yada... You can start from total scratch!

Ok, the steps I'm going to list below is how my friend is making a TON of passive money. It's how 1000s of others are doing it, as well.

Here we go:

1. Go to Amazon and find a topic that gets searched for a lot in the Amazon Kindle department. There are tools that will help you.

2. Write or, better yet, outsource a Kindle book to be written for you, on that topic.

3. Figure out 7 keyword phrases you want to rank highly in Amazon for.

4. Publish your book to Amazon. SUPER EASY to do.

5. Get ranked #1 for your keywords.

... and boom. DONE!

That's it. I know people that are making $1000s each month by following this simple process over and over again.

It's ridiculous how easy publishing Kindle books is. When I first heard the word, Amazon Kindle books, I assumed nobody was buying them, and it wasn't worth my time.

But then my friend told me that last year, in 2012, Amazon's Kindle book sales DOUBLED that of their regular book sales! It doubled them!

And the best part is, Amazon does the selling part for you. All you need to do is write your book. Put it on Amazon. And rank highly for it.

The hardest part is ranking highly. And that part is SUPER simple once you know what you're doing, and have the right tools.

Here is the tool that he uses to get #1 Amazon Kindle book rankings, AND find what topics to write on. And a bunch of other really cool stuff that helps him make more money with Amazon.

If you're not publishing Kindle books yet, wow, you are missing out on an enormous opportunity. Kindle publishing is so new, and is growing so fast, that RIGHT NOW is the best time to do this.

I strongly urge you to go here. Get the tool he uses. The tool that I use. And start publishing Kindle books. There's even a guide that comes with it, where he shows you, step by step what he does.

Take 2 minutes and check it out. You can thank me later :-)

Will you really be able to MAKE MONEY WITH AMAZON Kindle?

I believe so. Though some ebooks prices are NOT THAT MUCH, if you think of the number of customers the Amazon have with the price of the ebook, you can make thousands (if you'd like). Brad have actually provided some proofs in the AK Elite website also, so better just go and visit the website to take a moment and listen to what he have to offer.

visit AK Elite Website!

Brad Callen, the creator of AK Elite also provided some screenshots, friends who have been making money with Amazon's Kindle books and a video to explain what's with the product. So go ahead and visit the website.

2 Things To Look Out For When Using Public Wifi

Personal mobile hot spots are becoming more and more popular these days; but there is still a large portion of the population who doesn't have one. For the rest of us, we are left to use public Wifi networks when we can find them. These are convenient; but the can be very dangerous. Here are two of the worst things that you need to be prepared for:

Viruses

You may feel that you have a pretty good antivirus system on your computer, but over an insecure connection there are advanced bugs that can bypass most security measures. The worst part is that there is often no noticeable signs of an infection until it is too late. These viruses can wipe out your hard drive, ruin the hardware and software that you have installed, or they can be used for more sinister purposes (covered in the next section).

Stolen Personal Information

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when using a public Wifi connection is using websites where they are required to use personal information. This can include everything from your favorite social media sites to your online banking and credit solutions. If you log in to those sites, or if you have the passwords saved by your browser, then a good hacker can steal that information and wreak havoc on your life.

The Dangers of Public WiFi

So I found this awesome infographic by infogr8.com, so I thought maybe it would be great to share this with everyone else here in Bloggers Tech blog.
It seems like scary stuff, right? Most people who hear this choose to swear off public networks completely, well at least for a little while anyways. You don't have to give up public networks, and you don't have to spend money on your own personal hotspot if you don't want to. There are ways for you to protect yourself when using a public network.  As long as you know where to look and what to use, you can be protected from the evil that lurks on public Wifi networks.
