Personal mobile hot spots are becoming more and more popular these days; but there is still a large portion of the population who doesn't have one. For the rest of us, we are left to use public Wifi networks when we can find them. These are convenient; but the can be very dangerous. Here are two of the worst things that you need to be prepared for:

Viruses

You may feel that you have a pretty good antivirus system on your computer, but over an insecure connection there are advanced bugs that can bypass most security measures. The worst part is that there is often no noticeable signs of an infection until it is too late. These viruses can wipe out your hard drive, ruin the hardware and software that you have installed, or they can be used for more sinister purposes (covered in the next section).

Stolen Personal Information

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when using a public Wifi connection is using websites where they are required to use personal information. This can include everything from your favorite social media sites to your online banking and credit solutions. If you log in to those sites, or if you have the passwords saved by your browser, then a good hacker can steal that information and wreak havoc on your life.

The Dangers of Public WiFi

So I found this awesome infographic by infogr8.com, so I thought maybe it would be great to share this with everyone else here in Bloggers Tech blog.
It seems like scary stuff, right? Most people who hear this choose to swear off public networks completely, well at least for a little while anyways. You don't have to give up public networks, and you don't have to spend money on your own personal hotspot if you don't want to. There are ways for you to protect yourself when using a public network.  As long as you know where to look and what to use, you can be protected from the evil that lurks on public Wifi networks.
